the second jenny contacted me, saying they were getting married in idyllwild, i was sold on the idea.

becoming an idyllwild wedding photographer would result in an excellent change of pace and i couldn’t wait to be a part of jenny and bryan’s wedding. and boy was i lucky to be a part of it. words cannot express how fortunate i am to be able to do what i love.
below is a small snippet of the magic that i witnessed throughout the day. my only hope is that i did it justice and captured the beauty in all of its honesty.

everyone, meet the two coolest scientists you’ll ever have the chance to meet, jenny and bryan.

thanks a ton to a fellow orange county wedding photographer, tyler sullins, for offering up his whole body for a whole day and for assisting me with this lovely wedding.

cara and dustin are engaged…which in turn, means they’re getting married. and we cant wait for the first weekend of november when we get to celebrate with them on their wedding day.

congrats you two…high fives all around.

the goal:

to put imagery to a poem. to practice storytelling of a different form, rather than tell the story of a orange county wedding day…to create a story from nothing but the words of a poet. the result is ‘oh pioneer! – a personal project.’

the poem:

Come my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? have you your sharp-edged axes?
Pioneers! O pioneers!

For we cannot tarry here,
We must march my darlings, we must bear the brunt of danger,
We the youthful sinewy races, all the rest on us depend,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

O you youths, Western youths,
So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship,
Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the foremost,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

Have the elder races halted?
Do they droop and end their lesson, wearied over there beyond the seas?
We take up the task eternal, and the burden and the lesson,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

All the past we leave behind,
We debouch upon a newer mightier world, varied world,
Fresh and strong the world we seize, world of labor and the march,
Pioneers! O pioneers!
